If you live somewhere relatively un-walkable, a car kit (or bike kit or work desk kit) is
so handy. My car kit is a small wooden crate that has a rotating collection of helpful bits. When I find myself needing coffee or a to-go box, I just go out to the car and grab it. In the year I’ve been using it, my car kit has saved lots of plastic and paper from landfills!
Organic Muslin Bulk Bags. These are a must-have if you are giving up plastic produce bags or shopping in bulk bins! $16 for 6 (2 SM, 2 M, 2 L)
Organic Cotton Flannel Hankies. I made my own flannel napkins/hankies for my car kit, but these are ready to go! $17 for 3
Glasslock Oven-Safe To-Go Containers. Keep a couple of these in your car kit and you’ll never need a to-go box on date night. After a meal, I just walk out to the car and grab one. $26 for 3
ChicoBag. Bring your own bag! ChicoBags collapse into a tiny pack you can take almost anywhere. $8.50 for 1 or $27 for 4
KeepCup. Reusable at its finest. I have these in both 8oz and 4oz sizes that have lasted me for years. (8oz is very small–most people prefer 12oz) $9-22
Stainless Steel Straws. This pack is two 6mm bent straws, two fat smoothie straws, and a cleaning brush. Choose 8″ or 10″ tall. $8
Silicone Grommets. Drill a 1/2″ hole into your favorite mason jar lid, pop in a grommet, add a stainless steel straw, and BAM–personalized to-go cup. $2.20 for 5
To-Go Ware Utensils. You’ll never hear metal clanging around in your bag with these! If you aren’t a chopsticks fan, swap them out for an 8″ smoothie straw. (Note: I keep my utensils in my bag rather than the car kit). $12
